About Shaniyah Jasper

LMSW | they/she

I aim to cultivate a collaborative, liberated space that allows for us to explore how not only interpersonal traumas impact our mental health, but also systemic traumas. I find deep value in a gentle, relational approach that honors your autonomy and humannes. When we are reminded of systems as trauma, we can begin to process the impact of anti-blackness, racism, ableism, anti-fatness, misogyny/misogynoir, homophobia, transphobia, etc. My hope is to build a mutual trust that allows us to support your growth in whatever way you hope that looks for you.

Being a Black lesbian is integral to my work because my positionality in society informs my values. I aim to show up authentically as myself and I encourage you to do the same, in and outside of the therapeutic space. Co-creating an authentic, compassionate, vulnerable space deepens the ability to emphasize your strengths while challenging patterns that are no longer serving you.

My approach is person-centered through a trauma-informed and anti-oppressive lens. If you are looking for a space to be honest without judgment, a place where you never need to shrink yourself, and a space that honors you as the expert on you then I look forward to being along for your journey!
